This training will provide education on these stages of development and how to focus entirely on play an presence as the therapeutic approach relying very little on the child’s ability to verbally communicate. It will also cover how to engage parents in supporting these littles to help progress on goals at home.

Learning Objectives

  1. Clinicians will be able to verbally describe the primary developmental goals of children ages 1-5.

  2. Clinicians will be able to identify themes and corresponding play treatment goals for children ages 1-5.

  3. Clinicians will be able to describe 3-5 ways to promote change in children ages 1-5 through play therapy without relying on the child’s use of language.
